BI Explorer

Better insight into patient data

Make your medical data actionable

BI Explorer is a web-based Business Intelligence tool that provides medical professionals with a powerful set of tools to get quick insight into medical data. National quality reports or key performance indicators can be displayed in a dashboard, a report, or an interactive table. Drilling down to the underlying data and the use of filtering, grouping and pivot operations lead to new insights and better informed decision making.

BI Explorer is successfully used to:

  • Find outliers as defined by national parameters or relative to a patient group
  • Find deviations from average organization performance
  • Compare medication administration to lab results
  • Process and outcomes trend analyses
  • Cross-organization and cross-practitioner competitive analysis
  • Risk factor analysis

BI Explorer benefits:

  • Deploy in a multi-tenant fashion
  • Integrate with authentication services and show/hide/mask PII data based on user role
  • Filter on any aspect of the data (e.g. demographics, diagnosis, medication, process, labresults)
  • Group on organization or sub-organization levels with standard aggregates
  • Calculate group fractions, e.g. the fraction of patients within an organisation with BMI < 30
  • Create pivot tables, e.g. show KPIs over age groups
  • Store combinations of filters, groupings or pivots as presets
  • Share presets with other users belonging to the same tenant

As a service provider, you can create any number of standard presets that can be shared with healthcare professionals so they can view compliance to organizational practices and indicators and drill down to the patients that need extra attention.

QueryBuilder

Self-service access to clinical data

Fast track research in your organisation

Clinical researchers spend a copious amount of time finding, requesting and preparing data. A great deal of this work can be fast tracked by allowing researchers direct access to clinical data sources such as hospital data warehouses containing EHR data.

MGRID QueryBuilder provides an intuitive self-service query definition interface to select data for a research project. Researchers can define queries by selecting, filtering and joining clinical data sources, ask approval and deliver the data to their research workspace.

Benefits for researchers:

  • Self service access to the available data sources via a web-interface
  • Formulate queries by selecting and filtering available data
  • While querying, the researcher gets a sense of the number of unique patients/subjects and data points in the resulting dataset
  • Build datasets step by step by using the results of previous queries, e.g. retrieve medication administrations for a subset of patients defined in a previous query
  • Schedule periodic uploads to a research workspace
  • Seek approval for execution of the queries via the push of a button

Benefits for data managers / hospitals:

  • Increase the value of existing data repositories by providing self-service access to researchers
  • Gain better control over data that is (re-)used for research; authorisation is granted and revoked in an auditable process
  • Support thousands of researchers with a limited number of data stewards/custodians
  • Deploy easily either on-site or in-cloud
  • Integrate with a wide range of authentication services to identify researchers, pseudonymisation services to clean data and virtual workspaces where researchers work in a controlled environment
  • Gain complete per-study pseudonymisation support

QueryBuilder works in conjunction with the Data Authorisation Service, a web-based service where data stewards control the actual delivery of data by approving or denying the data requested by researchers in the QueryBuilder.
